    Legacy of Excellence

Alpha Phi was founded at Syracuse University by ten of the first nineteen women admitted to the newly opened university. Our founders were women with brave hearts that were filled with a noble purpose and with eyes that saw clearly into the future. These were the Original Ten, the founders of Alpha Phi. Pursuing their studies in a thoroughly male-dominated environment, these women had a pressing need for friends who could sympathize with each other's problems and support each others' aspirations. On September 18, 1872, these ten women initiated themselves into Alpha Phi. To learn more about the great legacy of Alpha Phi, check out www.alphaphi.org.

The Fabulous Life of Alpha Phi at UCI

The Eta Kappa Chapter of Alpha Phi was founded on May 17, 1988 by a group of bright, energetic women. Today, their legacy lives on in our members, an elite group of women—the best and brightest at UC Irvine. Whether you are a scholar, an athlete, or a beauty queen, Alpha Phi's develop strong character through our devotion to philanthropy, academics, campus leadership, and social networking. And just as our ten founders were faced with challenges, the progressive women of UC Irvine Alpha Phi challenge themselves every day to set themselves to a higher standard than the stereotype constantly given to women in sorority organizations. The objective of our fraternity is the promotion of growth in character, seeking the highest ideal of womanhood by cultivating not only our intellectual development, but also the spirit of love and charity. Here is just a glimpse of the achievements that the Eta Kappa chapter has accomplished during its time here at UC Irvine:
